U.S.S. Thresher (SSN-593) - Work In Progress

One more submarine model, I think :) This was a boat I've been interested in for years - the first American nuclear sub to be lost at sea in 1963. The basic shapes are really simple, but the work is in the details. Some hatches/ports are rounded to conform to the shape of the hull, others are flat and kind of "stand out". I have a few sets of blueprints for her, one of which is supposedly based on Navy drawings. None of the blueprints are quite right, however. So I'm trying to use photo references of the Thresher herself where possible. When I can't do that, I'm going with pictures from other boats of the class or details from other US subs of this period. It's not going to be perfect - no model ever is - but I'm going to make a decent effort to get it right. More to follow :)
